Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has criticised Chelsea’s management for buying too many players and leaving the club with too many players, but the results are still not good.
Since Todd Boehly took over, the Blues have bought 44 players in two years, worth over £1.2 billion, but their performance has been disappointing and not close to reclaiming their greatness. They recently lost their opening game at home to Manchester City 0-2.
Current boss Enzo Maresca has said that the team has too many players in training, which reduces the quality and tactical ability of the team, Promotion Ufabet similar to former managers Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter.
Speaking to Ufabet Sports, Redknapp said: “He (Maresca) has to come back to training tomorrow and he will have a very unhappy face on his face.
“Normally we have an 11v11 game on Thursday, trying to get the team to play as one. You have 20 players playing 11v11, how is that possible?”
“The best Premier League teams of the last five years have worked with 24 or 25 players in their squad. How do they think and why do they think about reforming football and trying to do that?”
Meanwhile, Roberto Sanchez, who played the full 90 minutes against City, is one of six senior goalkeepers currently on the books at Stamford Bridge – along with Filip Jorgensen, 22, Marcus Bettinelli, 32, Dorde Petrovic, 24, Lucas Bergstrom, 21, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, 29.
