Arsenal received some good news ahead of their big game against Liverpool on Saturday when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to training with the first team as usual. After the news of injuries in the previous period

There were initially concerns about the 32-year-old’s fitness. After he was substituted on a stretcher in Gabon’s win over Libya on Friday.

The Gabon Football Association then confirmed he would return to the Emirates Stadium early.

The last group match between Gabon and Egypt in Angola has been meaningless. That gave Aubameyang permission to return to London.

However, Aubameyang returned to full training with his Gunners team-mates on Wednesday. And Mikel Arteta has eased concerns over the forward for a crucial game against the Reds.

The Gunners are now just two points behind Liverpool and Arteta’s side are unbeaten in their 10 games in a row.

Nevertheless, Gabon were already out of the race irrespective of the result against Egypt. Whilst there weren’t any injury updates by their national team, reports started emerging that the 32-year-old would miss the game against the Reds this weekend.

It is good news that Aubameyang is already in London Colney, training for the crunch fixture. He will be a key man in Mikel Arteta’ team that travels to Anfield on Saturday.

The Gunners travel to Merseyside on the back of an impressive 10-game unbeaten run in all competitions. Undoubtedly, the Arsenal captain would have been a huge miss. Jurgen Klopp’s men have not been at their usual best recently, shining a glimmer of hope that the Emirates club could finally secure a win at Anfield.
